Process & Scale
From the first discussion to the finished wall.
The most rewarding commissions begin with a conversation, often before the final scheme is fully defined. By involving me early in the process, we have the space to let the design evolve naturally alongside the architecture of the room ~ ensuring a result that feels truly integrated and effortless.
01
The brief
Following our initial conversation, I begin the research and development phase. I provide several design directions for your response, rooted in a deep dive into historical archives or atmospheric references. I believe in a considered pace during this stage; ensuring the historical 'soul' of the piece is correct is where the true value of the commission lies.
02
Research & proposals
Final artwork is painted at my Hastings studio. For large-scale scenic wallpapers this typically takes four to eight weeks depending on complexity.
03
Painting
Once the painting is complete I scan at high resolution to begin the digital transition. I personally refine the design into a seamless repeat, ensuring the spirit of the brushwork is preserved.
Then production moves in two stages: a two-to-three week period for sampling followed by a further two-to-three weeks for final printing and delivery.
04
Digital translation & print
For wallpaper commissions I can advise on installation requirements, recommend experienced decorators where needed, and review the finished installation before sign-off. For fresco secco panels and painted cloths, I can oversee installation directly.

Every commission is priced individually. I’m happy to give an indicative figure early in the process once I understand the brief ~ there’s no obligation and no awkwardness.
