This row of twittering Love Birds is painted in vibrant, juicy greens and yellows on plaster which I’ve cracked and aged for a nostalgic feel. They sit as guardians of a lush, cloud-filled landscape, the foliage pressing in on all sides. Lovebirds is the common name for the parrot genus Agapornis: small, vivid, and devoted in pairs.
I painted the original as a fresco secco, which has now sold, but the textures and patina are captured beautifully in this top quality Giclée print. Due to its wide, elongated proportions, this print works particularly well above a sofa, bed, or along a corridor wall.
